I indulged in one of my favorites, the Taco Birria Queso version--what I like to call the "French Dip" of tacos, complete with a little bowl of deliciousness for dipping. It was truly one of the best I've ever had, bursting with flavor. The dessert menu is surprisingly extensive for a Mexican restaurant, filled with tempting options. Vegetarian dishes, a lunch menu, appetizers, quesadillas, burritos, specials, chicken, steak, street tacos, kids' meals, and a big seafood menu--Los Carnales has something for everyone. Unpretentious, good food (needed salt), healthy portions, good prices. We were happy. No liquor license at this time (May 2024).
This is hands down the best Mexican food in Sumter. Being from Texas we have very high standards on Mexican food and while it isn't Tex-mex... it's still very good. The food is always reliable and it's always cooked very well. The staff is friendly and helpful and the prices are affordable for a large family like ours. Better than mariachis, Yucatán, las palmas, and definitely better than El Paso. Give their carne asada a try and their birria!
Street Tacos are A-mazing. My boy Drew needs a LARGE RAISE! I love the music and seated immediately.
Finally! This is a no-nonsense Mexican restaurant, offering all of the standards, but with traditional home-cooked flair. Tortillas made in house - check! Aguas Frescas and Horchata - check! Arroz con Pollo (ACP) - CHECK! We loved our experience and found that the service was great and friendly. We're looking forward to making this our new spot. Highly recommend the street tacos, the fajitas (try the veggie!), and the ACP. Great great great!!
